Language represents one of the most complex expressions of human experience, shaping communication, cultural identity, knowledge construction, and social interaction across societies. In a world characterized by globalization, increasing multilingualism, and rapid transformations in communication practices, the study of language requires renewed perspectives that connect established philological traditions with contemporary linguistic approaches. Language Horizons: Emerging Perspectives in Philology, Linguistics, and Language Studies aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for original contributions exploring the evolving nature of languages and their role in human societies. The volume welcomes theoretical reflections, empirical research, and methodological innovations addressing current developments in philology, linguistics, applied linguistics, language education, translation studies, literary analysis, and intercultural communication. By bringing together diverse perspectives, this edited volume seeks to highlight how languages evolve through historical processes, cultural interactions, educational practices, and emerging technologies, while reinforcing the relevance of language studies for understanding contemporary social and cultural challenges.

This book is intended for researchers, university professors, postgraduate students, and professionals working in linguistics, philology, translation studies, language education, literary studies, communication, and related areas within the humanities and social sciences. The volume offers a multidisciplinary space for scholars interested in exploring current debates and future directions in language research, encouraging dialogue between classical approaches to language study and innovative perspectives emerging from contemporary linguistic and cultural contexts.

Submission Guidelines
Originality: All submissions must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. Double-blind peer review results will be notified within approximately five weeks.

Isabel De Lurdes Pereira Do Cabo, PhD
Professor of Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) in Portugal | Agrupamento de Escolas Latino Coelho, Lamego | Invited Adjunct Professor at Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra
Isabel De Lurdes Pereira Do Cabo is a professor of Spanish as a Foreign Language in Portugal and a civil servant at Agrupamento de Escolas Latino Coelho, Lamego. She is also an invited adjunct professor at Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra. Her research focuses on Spanish language teaching and teacher education, particularly active methodologies, pedagogical assessment, digital educational technologies, and the use of authentic materials in language learning. She also develops research related to educational projects in sustainability, especially the Eco-Schools Programme. She has extensive experience teaching Spanish in higher education contexts and training teachers at secondary and university levels. She has participated in research projects, published scientific works on language education and pedagogical innovation, and has created professional learning communities for Spanish teachers in Portugal. She is also an accredited DELE examiner for all levels by Instituto Cervantes.
Marta García, PhD
Assistant Professor, Department of Spanish Language, University of Salamanca, Spain
Marta García is Assistant Professor in the Department of Spanish Language at the University of Salamanca. Her research focuses on three main areas: language assessment and certification, Spanish grammar, and additional language teaching. She has published extensively on linguistic certification, specialized languages, discourse markers, and the design of language examinations. She has taught in teacher training programmes and postgraduate courses at different institutions, including the University of Salamanca, the University of León, and James Madison University. She is also co-author of Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) teaching materials. As a member of the Academic Committee of ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe), she contributes to language certification auditing processes and coordinates working groups related to language corpora. She has also participated in the development, coordination, correction, and training processes associated with international language examinations, including DELE and SIELE.
Raquel Maria Correia Cardoso, PhD
Assistant Professor, CBS|ISCAC – Coimbra Business School, Polytechnic University of Coimbra, Portugal
Raquel Maria Correia Cardoso holds a PhD in Feminist Studies from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra and the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra. She is Associate Professor at CBS|ISCAC – Coimbra Business School, Polytechnic University of Coimbra, where she has taught since 1996 in areas including English language, Business and Technical English, Portuguese communication skills, and organizational communication. Her academic background also includes a Master’s degree in Anglo-American Studies and postgraduate studies in Modern English and American Literature at University College Dublin. Her current research interests include communication, women’s authorship, gender studies, and literary studies. Throughout her academic career, she has participated in international mobility programmes, research initiatives, and institutional projects related to equality, inclusion, and international cooperation. She has received several academic scholarships and awards, including opportunities for research activities at international institutions such as Harvard University.
Guidelines & Fees
Length & Format: Chapters should range between 4,000 and 5,000 words (including references). Detailed formatting instructions and the mandatory template are available for download.
Text Processing Payment (TPP): The publication fee is 490 Euros + 4% VAT (if applicable) per chapter. This fee covers production, editorial coordination, DOI assignment, and global open-access distribution.
* The TPP is only requested after final acceptance following the peer-review process. Adaya Press does not charge any submission fees.
